Amidst the vibrant energy that characterized last month’s CPAs Make a Difference gala – one of celebration, connection, and a commitment to the bright future of the accounting profession – emerged a friendly fundraising competition called Battle of the Brains, from which the future of the profession will benefit for generations to come.
A fixture at the gala for three years now, Battle of the Brains gave attendees the opportunity to shout out their favorite Colorado college of university by making a tax-deductible donation to the Educational Foundation of the Colorado Society of CPAs in honor of their school of choice.
Each dollar counted as a vote for the donor’s chosen school, and at the end of the evening, Colorado State University (CSU) landed on top with $3,475 donated to the Educational Foundation in its name. CSU Accounting Department Chair Lisa Kutcher, CPA, Ph.D., accepted the traveling Battle of the Brains trophy – previously hosted by past winners University of Northern Colorado (UNC) and Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU).
Generosity reigned that evening, with total Educational Foundation donations reaching $10,465. Other schools represented in the giving include UNC, MSU, University of Denver, Western Colorado University, University of Colorado – Denver, Regis University, Colorado Mesa University, Colorado State University – Pueblo, CSU Global, and the University of Colorado – Boulder.
Colorado Gives Day: There’s Still Time to Positively Impact the Profession
While the Battle of the Brains trophy may already have found its Fort Collins home for the next year, it’s not too late to positively impact the future of the profession with a tax-deductible donation to the Educational Foundation.
Colorado Gives Day is just over a week away, but you don’t have to wait until December 10 to invest in the accounting profession’s leaders of tomorrow. The Colorado Gives Day window is now open, and thanks to the generosity of these matching donors, your gift will have four times the impact:
Donate today, and help support the accounting profession now and for years to come.
Founded in 1958, the Educational Foundation of the COCPA provides scholarships to Colorado students who are on the path to a CPA career. Click here for more information on the Foundation.
