Your first 90 days

Membership gets better the more you put into it. Here's a loose roadmap — no wrong pace, just helpful signposts.

Days 1–30 · Get oriented

  • Complete your member profile
  • Set up COCPA Connect and introduce yourself
  • Browse the CPE catalog and bookmark courses
  • Review your welcome email series
  • Connect with your member ambassador

Days 31–60 · Get engaged

  • Join a Connect community in your practice area
  • Register for your first CPE event or Surgent course
  • Explore member discounts and preferred partners
  • Follow COCPA on LinkedIn
  • Attend a networking event or webinar

Days 61–90 · Go deeper

  • Explore committee and volunteer opportunities
  • Register for a signature COCPA event
  • Look into certificate or leadership programs
  • Read NewsAccount magazine
  • Contribute in Connect — ask or answer something

Year 1 and beyond

  • Track your CPE progress in My Learning
  • Renew your membership early
  • Volunteer as an ambassador or committee member
  • Nominate a peer for recognition
  • Explore the COCPA Career Center

Get set up on COCPA Connect

Connect is COCPA's private online community — available 24/7, free with membership. It's where members ask questions, get answers, and build relationships. Get started in under 5 minutes.

Log in to Connect
Go to cocpa.org/connect and sign in with your COCPA credentials. Your account is already created — no new registration needed.

Complete your Connect profile
Add a photo and short bio. Members with complete profiles get more responses and connection requests.

Browse the communities
You'll see the full list of COCPA Connect communities. Start with the Open Forum — it's the most active general community.

Join your practice area community
Find communities matching your focus: Tax, Accounting & Auditing, Business & Industry, Technology, and more. Click 'Join' to subscribe.

Introduce yourself
Post a short intro in the Open Forum — your name, where you work, and what you're hoping to get from COCPA. Members love welcoming new faces.

Explore the resource library
Each community has a Library tab with files and resources shared by members. It's a goldmine for practice tools.
