Toby, a shareholder with Soukup, Bush & Associates, CPAs, P.C., has been a tax practitioner for more than 20 years, and largely serves clients in the health care and real estate sectors. He is deeply committed not only to helping his clients succeed, but also to giving back to both his community and the profession. In addition to volunteering with local organizations such as Partners Mentoring Youth, Northern Colorado United for Youth, and North Forty, Toby has served in a wide variety of COCPA roles. These include a previous term on the Board of Directors, as an Educational Foundation trustee, Audit Committee member, and, in 2022, CEO Search Committee member. Having traveled across Colorado for many years teaching the popular CPE course, Tax Year in Review and Year-end Planning, he brings to the table a strong understanding of the challenges facing tax practitioners statewide. Outside of work, whether skiing, paddle boarding, biking, or hiking, you’ll most often find Toby and his family spending time in the Colorado outdoors.

Alexie is a managing director in Deloitte LLP’s audit practice. She serves as the Denver Office Private Audit leader and leads the Denver Office Technology and Emerging Growth Practices. A University of Denver (DU) graduate with a BSBA in accounting and a Master of Accountancy, Alexie has spent her entire career with Deloitte, in both the audit and mergers and acquisitions practices. She is the chair of the DU School of Accountancy Advisory Board and serves on the Denver Scholarship Foundation Audit and Finance Committee. A 2022 Everyday Heroine Award honoree with a passion for education, Alexie previously served on the COCPA Women to Watch Committee, on the Board of Directors and as Finance Committee chair for Open World Learning, as chair of the Board of College Summit Colorado, and as president of the Alliance of Professional Women.

Jim’s broad experience includes forming a variety of business entities, business expansions, divestitures, mergers and acquisitions, and business closures. Now the principal of Jim Gilbert, CPA, LLP, he is passionate about supporting the CPA profession and helping his peers embrace technology to prepare for the ever-changing landscape of business and automation. In his two decades as a COCPA member, Jim has held a variety of volunteer positions, including as a founding member of the Technology Users Group, in which he remains active, and serving on the Board of Directors. He is a past chair of the AICPA’s CITP Credential Champions Group, AICPA CITP Credential Committee, and AICPA Engage Technology Planning Committee, and is a frequent speaker on technology matters. When he’s not working or volunteering, you’ll find Jim traveling, working out at the gym, and spending time with his family.

Alicia Gelinas, CPA, is the COCPA president and chief executive officer. She leads the COCPA staff in delivering services and carrying out the COCPA’s mission – to help people thrive personally and professionally through service and connection. Alicia’s professional background includes stints in public accounting, teaching, consulting, and nonprofit finance. She first participated in Society activities as a student member before assuming the chief financial officer role, ultimately becoming the CEO in September 2022.

Diego is a senior manager in the audit practice at EY, focusing principally on technology clients but with a diverse background in many industries. Diego has had the privilege of participating in audits of all sizes, including large, multinational publicly traded companies down to privately held start-ups. Diego’s passions include mentoring, the CPA profession, and giving back to his community. Over the past several years Diego has served on Boards that have provided more than $500,000 in scholarship funds to students of all backgrounds and majors. Prior to serving on the COCPA Board, Diego was president of the Educational Foundation of the COCPA; served on various not-for-profit boards and committees in the Denver community; and served nationally on the AICPA’s Board of Examiners. In his free time, Diego loves to listen to music (everything but country), read, play golf, and watch sports (especially his CU Buffs, Denver Nuggets and Denver Broncos).

As an audit partner with BDO, Erin is part of the ERISA and Employee Benefit Plan Practice. She is the partner liaison for the BDO Denver office’s diversity and inclusion groups, and serves on the AICPA Employee Benefit Plan Expert Panel and the AICPA Employee Benefit Plan Audit AARU Conference Planning Committee. She is a frequent speaker at various COCPA, AICPA, and Financial Executives International events. Erin’s community involvement reflects a passion for empowering women and children. She serves on the Board of the Directors for Florence Crittenton Services of Colorado, a family resource center for teen families, and previously served as treasurer of the Colorado Public Plan Coalition. Erin looks forward to joining her COCPA Board colleagues to address the issues facing the profession, including improving minority enrollment in college accounting programs and encouraging accounting students to go on and earn their CPA licenses.

With expertise in general business taxation for corporations, partnerships, and other business entities, Kevin has spent 25 years providing public accounting and advisory services such as business succession planning, real estate investments and exchanges, and medical practice consulting to professional services firms, aviation and fixed base operators, and a broad range of other clients in western Colorado, across the state, and nationally. He also has extensive knowledge of conservation easement planning, including the intricacies of the Colorado Gross Conservation Easement tax credit. Against the backdrop of his rich professional experience, Kevin is currently devoting time to personal interests and exploring next steps in his career journey. Among his volunteer activities are serving on the COCPA CDOR Working Group, and fundraising for the Valley View Hospital Foundation and the Glenwood Springs Historical Society. Outside of his professional pursuits, Kevin enjoys hiking, cycling, paddleboarding, and traveling.

As an executive coach and human resources officer, Amy has decades of experience helping leaders and organizations transform their culture, grow their impact, and drive engagement for lasting results. She currently serves as chief human resources officer at Denver Health, where she is advancing strategic priorities and the evolution of human resources. Amy serves on several nonprofit boards, and has previously worked with the Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce and the MDAB Career Advisory Board for the University of Denver’s Daniels College of Business. Her COCPA work includes a previous term as the Board of Directors community member, as well as stints on the Leadership Summit and CEO Search committees.

For more than 20 years, Lisa has been changing the face of Colorado’s accounting profession through her work as a professor to both undergraduate and graduate students. From her first years as a research and teaching assistant at CU Boulder to her current role as accounting department chair at Colorado State University, she is on the front lines in building the future of the profession. A past vice chair of the COCPA Educational Foundation, Lisa’s two decades in higher education allow her to bring perspective around the challenge of attracting students to the accounting profession. “I can also understand how students’ perspectives regarding careers have changed over the years, providing a bridge between professionals and future professionals” she adds. In her spare time, Lisa enjoys working on puzzles, playing board games, and getting outside to hike, bike, and paddleboard.

In addition to serving as SM Energy Company’s chief accounting officer and controller, Pat is a lecturer at the University of Colorado Denver Business School, teaching an oil and gas accounting class to both undergraduate and graduate students. He serves on the accounting advisory boards of both the University of Colorado Denver, which he chairs, and Regis University. A current member of the COCPA Accounting Educators Committee, he has previously served on the Society’s Educational Foundation, Editorial Board, CPAs in Industry Conference Planning Committee, and CPE Compliance Committee. Pat brings to the Board a passion for serving the profession and the student pipeline, whether through guest lecturing, mentoring, or serving on Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business review teams at nine universities to date. Outside the professional realm, Pat can often be found coaching youth baseball or cheering on his four children in pursuits such as basketball and soccer.

Currently an audit partner with Moss Adams LLP’s Denver office, Greg has practiced public accounting since 1997. He provides a wide range of audit and accounting services for public and privately held companies in the manufacturing and consumer products, technology and life sciences, and renewable energy industries. He serves on the COCPA ESG Working Group and the Public Company Practice Forum, and in 2016 was honored as a COCPA Everyday Hero. He is a former member of the Alzheimer’s Association of Colorado Board of Directors and currently serves on the board of the Colorado Advanced Manufacturing Association. In addition to acknowledging the declining number of new accounting graduates as a significant issue facing the profession, Greg identifies the increasing demand for services – due in part to increasing and changing regulations – as an additional challenge. Born and raised in Kentucky, Greg and his family enjoy hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, and four-wheeling in the Colorado mountains.

Tiffany’s love for accounting, combined with an entrepreneurial spirit and an enthusiasm for computers and technology, have driven her success as a full-time employee, long-term consultant, and small business owner. After 13 years as principal of her own small firm, Tiffany joined Wipfli LLP, where she ascended to a senior manager position in the Client Accounting Services department. Now back on her own as principal of Discovery Accounting LLC, Tiffany provides outsourced accounting services and serves as an outsourced controller, helping clients execute projects that support their organizational goals and initiatives. She serves as chair of the COCPA Emerging Professionals Initiative Committee (EPIC), where she puts to work her talents for building relationships and facilitating engagement among younger members of the CPA community.
