Jim Lindell is President of Thorsten Consulting, a strategic and financial consulting firm that offers professional speaking, training, and executive coaching. Over the past two decades, Jim has delivered over 5,000 hours of C-suite executive coaching. His professional experience includes Chief Financial Officer, VP-Finance, Corporate Controller, and Corporate Assistant Controller. Industries include manufacturing, healthcare, not-for-profit, distribution, and food processing.
Jim is a CPA and has received the Certified Speaking Professional designation, the highest earned designation from the National Speakers Association. Jim is a Vistage Chairman (Executive Coach and Facilitator) and responsible for two groups in the Milwaukee area.
Jim is the author of Controller as Business Manager, Controllers Annual Update (Best Seller,) Analytics and Big Data for Accountants, and many other courses on strategic and financial leadership. Jim has been published by the AICPA and Wiley.
Jim is a twelve-time recipient of the AICPA’s Outstanding Discussion Leader Award.
Also, Jim is a member of the Irish rock/folk music group “Deep Pool” and is unwilling to admit that he may have played his last rugby match.

The Strategic Outlook 2023 will help financial professionals identify and understand the trends that will dictate the future environment. In addition, we will examine the Controller and CFO role and the importance of moving from a "Maintainer" to a "Visionary" mentality. The course will focus on the critical functions of Efficiency Expert, Financial Analyst, Technology Expert and Futurist. The traditional accounting role is changing into a hybrid accounting/technological professional and requires more proactive, insightful and strategic financial leadership.

• Identify the significant roles that Controllers and CFOs have and how they can be leveraged.
• Determine how to impact organizational efficiency by adapting lean management techniques and robotic process automation (RPA).
• Recognize how Chat GPT will impact the Controller and CFO roles.
• Determine how to employ financial analysis through visual and other techniques to improve understanding and communication of essential lessons.
• Identify how artificial intelligence, business intelligence, data analytics and predictive analytics change the accounting function and use of information.
• Recognize how an organization's future staffing and employee needs are interdependent and must complement one another to be more competitive.
