Alan Bennett (2013 LeadFit Grad), recently promoted to VP – Controller at SM Energy, first experienced LeadFit in the early days of the program. His journey from Accounting Manager to Vice President shows how one strategic investment can pay off years later. Prior to joining SM Energy, Alan was with Ernst & Young, LLP as a Senior Associate. A COCPA member for nearly 16 years, Alan naturally leans into the bright side of the profession. With an easygoing wit and a deep care for people, he brings out the best of accounting and shares it freely with those around him. Whether he’s spotlighting a colleague’s success or finding ways to lift others up, Alan’s presence is a reminder that connection and encouragement are just as vital as technical expertise.
