One driver behind M&A activity is lack of succession or a failed succession plan. Lack of a succession team makes the decision easy. It is just a matter or when a firm should sell or merge upward. It gets more complex when a succession team exists, and you believe there is a potential succession. This session will provide participants with ability to develop a succession blueprint and begin to test their internal succession plans. The Visionary Group will discuss the pieces to consider. Is the path to partnership clear? Can your succession team bring in work? Do they understand the buy-in and partner payout obligations? Do they agree to the value of the firm? Is financing needed? How does the cash flow work? Candidates often say they want to be a partner, but may not be financially able, emotionally ready, and/or skilled enough to make it work.
